THE NEW AVENIDA BALBOA

Construction works of “Cinta Costera y Nueva Vialidad” (Coastal Beltway and the New Road) in Balboa Avenue officially started on December 4, 2007 when the President of the Republic, Martín Torrijos, ordered to start the works that will provide the City Capital’s people the pleasure to enjoy a beautiful sight, with a 30-hectare park through an investment of USD 189 million.
This monumental work that will be completed in 540 calendar days, approximately by April 2009, will use the most high tech construction that is only used by the most advanced countries of the world, the highest architecture and development standards, the best security criteria, quality, respect for environment and social security.
“I am sure that the face of Panama Bay will never be the same when the Coastal Beltway is completed, and there we will have the most spectacular and beautiful areas of the city”, said President Torrijos during his speech.
Among its features, the project will have a 35-hectare fill, 210 thousand square meters of public parks, 3.5 kilometers of cycle path, 7 kilometers of pedestrian sidewalks, 2 thousand parking spaces, 1,300 meters of viaduct (vehicular bridges), one 50-meter vehicular bridge above the Matasnillo River, 15 meters wide and sidewalks at both sides, 6 pedestrian overpasses provided with ramps and access facilities for the disabled.
